Hotel Obscura is a project currently being developed by triage live art collective (AU/DE) with our EU partners in Austria, France & Greece. Hotel Obscura was awarded a substantial grant in August 2013 by the European Cultural Commission's 3rd Country Collaboration initiative. Hotel Obscura is a two year project (2014-2016).
In the first year (2014) the project will bring together emerging and established live art and interdisciplinary performing artists to work together for an extended period. This phase will include international workshops, a live art camp, a curatorial panel, and laboratory research sessions dedicated to live art, site-specific performance & city-based audio events. Hotel Obscura will focus on intercultural and artistic exchanges that investigate live art, experimentation with digital technologies and audio works that extend into urban spaces. The project aims to develop rich and long-term artistic collaborations and networks for all partners & cities.
In the 2nd year (2015) Hotel Obscura will culminate in hotel-based performance projects in festival contexts in each city. All Hotel Obscura performances will showcase works generated by the unique performance ecology of each city. Works will range from the radically intimate (one-to-one), events that unfold within the 'live' hotel, and public participatory audio-based projects that activate the wider city landscape.
